TULLY, Blanche A. - 79, Cole Harbour. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved wife and mother. Blanche died peacefully in the presence of family and relatives Sunday, February 8, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. A kind and gentle spirit, she lived her life with grace and dignity. Born in Larry's River, Guysborough Co., she was the daughter of the late Bert and Cecilia (Gerrior) Avery. She is survived by her husband, Patrick, Cole Harbour; sons, Wayne, Cole Harbour; Daryl (Corrie), Beaver Bank; daughter, Michelle (Peter), Calgary. She was predeceased by brothers, Cornelius and Reginald (Avery). Blanche put family first and anyone who was privileged to know her was touched by her selflessness and humble spirit. Proud of her Acadian heritage, she looked forward to family gatherings and reunions. An advocate for the disadvantaged, she generously donated her time with St. Vincent de Paul Society and St. Patrick's Social Centre. She also gave to a number of local charities. Blanche was an active member of Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church and also St. Patrick's Parish and a long-time member of CWL. She was a recipient of the Archdiocese Medal of Merit in recognition of active participation in the Liturgical, social and fundraising efforts of St. Patrick's Parish, but especially her leadership and witness to good Christian family life. This medal is presented to persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the life and work of the local church in the Archdiocese of Halifax. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11, 2-4, 7-9 p.m., with prayer vigil 8 p.m., both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, in Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, Father Patrick Cosgrove officiating. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The Tully family wishes to thank the staff, nurses and physicians of QEII Health Sciences Centre, unit 4.1, for their supportive and compassionate care. Special thanks to the numerous friends and relatives for their support and good wishes.
