AVERY, Justin Francois - 18, Larry's River, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2004. Beloved son of Jude and Vaughnie (MacNeil) Avery. Justin was truly a fine young gentleman. His love of life and belief in the human spirit was evident to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Throughout his life, Justin was an active participant of St. Peter's Parish Church in Larry's River. An outstanding student, Justin contributed to both the student council and the school band of Guysborough Academy. His love of sports afforded him positions on his school hockey, soccer, baseball, cross-country and badminton teams. Other interests included sailing, rock climbing, hiking Europe, camping, kayaking and body boarding. Justin's greatest love apart from family and friends, were his guitars. An aspiring jazz musician, Justin had just recently completed a very successful first semester in the jazz program at St. Francis Xavier University. Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Nadine Avery, Halifax; sister, brother-in-law and nephews, Nicole (Avery), Chris, Evan and Hayden Bell, Halifax; maternal grandmother, Mary MacNeil, Sydney Mines; childhood friend, Christopher Avery, Larry's River; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Frank and Evangeline (Pellerin) Avery; maternal grandfather, Neil MacNeil. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, January 18, and 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Monday, January 19, in Communities Along the Bay Multi Purpose Facility. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, January 19, in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Larry's River, Father Will MacPherson officiating. Family flowers only, please. Donations may be made to Music Department at St. Francis Xavier University. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of G.W. Giffin's Funeral Home, Country Harbour.
