PELRINE, James Leonard - 71, Halifax, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 18, 2003, at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Port Felix, Guysborough co., he was a son of the late Jeffrey and Madeline (Bond) Pelrine. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Margaret (Marie Martin); daughters, Diane (David) Moulton, Debbie (Tony) MacDonald, Heather (David) Delorey; sons, Gary (Sandra), Paul (Bernadette), Wayne (Peggy), Donnie, all of Halifax; Darrell "Bud" (Ann), Enfield; sisters, Matilda (Godfrey) Gaudet, Janvrins Harbour, Cape Breton; Jean (Oscar) Perry, Bedford; brothers, Stanley (Lillian), Halifax; Clayton (Stella), Port Royal, Cape Breton; 15 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Geneva and Rita; brothers, Clarence, Lawson, Walter, Wallace; mother and father-in-law, Mary "Florence" and Archibald Martin. He was a proud and dedicated member of the International Long Shoreman's Association Local 269 for over 30 years (known affectionately by all his union brothers as "Baby Doll"). He enjoyed camping at Beech Brook Campground with his family and many close friends and was always there to lend a hand wherever and whenever needed and especially enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren and friends at his large campfires. He welcomed anyone into his home and no one ever left without having a lunch or taking a token of his friendship with them such as his woodworking. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Celebration of his life will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, in St. John the Baptist Church, Purcell's Cove Road, Halifax, Father Yves Marchildon officiating. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Very special thanks to Dr. Humphrey, Dr. Morzecki and nurses, Veronica Tanner and Glenna Thornhill for all your help and support during this difficult time.
