JOHN CHARLES JARVIS

JARVIS, John Charles - 43, Whitehead, Guysborough County, died January 8, 1994, at home. Born in Canso, he was a son of Harry and Clara (MacDonald) Jarvis, Whitehead. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Port Felix; fire chief of the Whitehead Volunteer Fire Department and owner/operator of Blackwater Diesel Sales and Repairs. Prior to this, he spent several years in heavy equipment repair in the Yukon and started his career at Blackwood Hodge in Dartmouth. He is survived by his wife, the former Reta Spears; brother, Terrance Allan Jarvis, Whitehead. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Church, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will be in parish cemetery. Family flowers only by request. Donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church or Whitehead Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements under the direction of G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour.
