SISTER MARY CELENE RICHARD

RICHARD, Sister Mary Celene - 82, Congregation of the Sisters of St. Martha, died June 13, 1999, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital. Born in Charlos Cove, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Mark and Celeste (Pellerine) Richard. She entered the Sisters of St. Martha on September 8, 1935. She served the congregation in the pioneering field of homemaking at Bethany; at St. Martha's Convent, St. F.X. University; and the Bishop's Residence, Antigonish. She served in convents in Canso, Main-A-Dieu, Ingonish, Dominion, Heatherton, St. Margaret's Village and Guysborough. She served as community leader in Heatherton for three years. She returned to Bethany in 1984 but remained active. Surviving is sister, Cecelia, Charlos Cove. She was predeceased by sisters, Christine, Anna, Lucy, Margaret, Minnie, Pearl; brothers, Bernard, Dan, Hubert. Visitation after 1:30 p.m. today, Bible Vigil 7:30 p.m. today, both in Bethany Motherhouse. Liturgy of Christian Burial 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bethany Chapel. Burial in Bethany Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish.
