HAROLD ELROY MUNROE

MUNROE, Harold Elroy - 81, 18 MacLaren Ave., New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2003, in Aberdeen Hospital. Born in White Head, Guysborough Co., he was a son of the late Norman and Maud (George) Munroe. He retired from MacGregor Bedding after 35 years and he and his late wife Pearl, operated Munroe's Grocery on Little Harbour Road for 25 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church; Norton Lodge No. 6, I.O.O.F, and the New Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy; son, Billy, both of New Glasgow; niece, Janet Soles, Virginia; nephew, Weldon Grover, MacLellans Mountain. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Pearl MacDonald; sisters, Gertrude Grover, Isabel and Josephine Munroe; brother, Owen. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to a charity of choice. Norton Lodge No. 6, I.O.O.F., will meet in the funeral home 6:30 p.m. today to hold their service.
