MUNROE, Avis Sophia
MUNROE, Avis Sophia - 90, passed away April 1, 2003, in the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII. Born in Yankee Harbour, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Creamer) Peitzsche. She worked for many years at the Gate Canteen in the Halifax Shipyards for the CNIB. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and having friends over for a visit. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Eric; sons, Donald Pickrem (Margaret), Truro; Carl Pickrem (companion Julia Bremner), Bedford; brother, Wilfred, Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Aubrey Pickrem (1967); sister, Mamie Smith; brother, Ainslie Peitzsche. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., funeral Friday at 11 a.m., both in Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayers Road. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Reception Centre.
