VINA ALMA RICHARD

RICHARD, Vina Alma - 87, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on Thursday, March 11, 1999. Born in Larrys River, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Theresa (Gerrior) Pelerine. She had resided in New Glasgow since 1925 and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She retired in 1978 from the Adult Residential Centre, Riverton, after 25 years of service as a nursing assistant prior to which she had been employed at Our Lady of Lourdes Convent for a number of years. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church since 1946, prior to which she had been a member of St. John the Baptist Church, New Glasgow, and St. Peter's Parish, Larrys River. She is survived by sons, Don (Lorraine), Petawawa, Ont.; Robert (Jean), Halifax; daughters, Margaret (James) MacIntosh, New Glasgow; Marion MacDonald, Pembroke; Yvonne MacDonald, Montreal; Kathie Grist, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank "Tubby"; three children in infancy; brothers, Howard, John Dan, Roy; sisters, Telina; grandson, Alan; a great-grandson. Her remains are resting at H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, with visitation today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Sydney Mifflen officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, 5954 Spring Garden Rd., Halifax, NS B3H 1Y7 or to the charity of one's choice.
