ARKLO BERT MUNROE

MUNROE, Arklo Bert - 88, Whitehead, Guysborough Co., died Saturday, October 9, 1999, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Whitehead, he was a son of the late Bert and Lola Belle (Feltmate) Munroe. He was a lifelong resident of Whitehead, where he worked as a fisherman. He was also employed by the Department of Transportation for many years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Catherine Munro, Whitehead; sons, Wayne (Celine) and Garfield (Velma), both of Whitehead; daughters, Joan (Mrs. Frederick Manuel), Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Barbara Ann (Mrs. Donald Rhynold), Enfield; brother, Kenneth, Whitehead; sisters, Beryl MacMillan, Pictou; Bertha Farquarson, British Columbia, and Virginia Barrie, Dartmouth; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, Paul in infancy and Greg; brothers, Lawrence, Randolph, Irving and Eric; sisters, Leona, Geraldine and Evelyn. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon until time of funeral at 2 p.m., both from St. Joseph's Church, Port Felix, Rev. Charles Donovan officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery, Port Felix. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the Kindey Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch. Arrangements entrusted to G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour.
