A veteran of 33-years service with the Nova Scotia Light and-Power Company, Joseph F. King, leading fireman at the company's gas plant, was honored by the campany and fellow employees yesterday. Retiring this week after his lengthy service, Mr. King was recipient of several beautiful gifts at presentation ceremonies held at the plant office. N. T. Smith, manager of the Board of Directors for the Nova Scotia Light and Power Company, presented Mr. King with a gold watch on behalf of the company. Mr. Smith said that Mr. King was held in high esteem not only by the company but also by fellow employees. K. L. Dawson, superintendent of the gas plant made the presentation to Mr. King on behalf of the employees. He received a tri-light, smoking stand and accessories. Prior to joining the staff of the Light and Power.Company, Mr. King served six years with the Royal Canadian Navy and also spent some years in the employ of the Halifax Electric Tramways Company as teamster and fireman. During World War One he served in the 66th Princess Louise Fusiliers and following this discharge in 1919 he entered the employ of the Light and Power Company. A native af Port Felix, Guysborough County, Mr. King will spend his retirement there.
